Donald Harmon Arrested after Fatal Multi-Car Collision on Interstate 80 [Auburn, CA]
Three-Vehicle Crash near Penryn Road Left 57-year-Old Man Dead
AUBURN, CA (January 31, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a deadly multi-vehicle collision along Interstate 80 led to the arrest of Donald Harmon.
The incident happened at around 4:00 p.m., on Interstate 80, near Penryn Road.
According to reports, the accident involved three vehicles. Investigators state that Harmon, in a GMC Sierra pickup truck was driving at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a Toyota Highlander. The impact of the collision pushed the Highlander into a Toyota Sienna.
As a result, the driver of the Highlander, a 57-year-old man from Meadow Vista, died at the scene. Harmon sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the occupants of the Sienna, Oleksandr Borysov and Hanna Borysova sustained minor injuries. Their two children, who were passengers in the Sienna, were unharmed.
Following the collision, Auburn police determined 66-year-old Donald H. Harmon to be driving while distracted on his cell phone and driving under the influence. Police arrested him shortly after.
