Alvaro Avalos Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Verano Avenue
EL VERANO, CA (January 26, 2023) – Monday evening, a pedestrian accident along Highway 12 left Julio Estrada with fatal injuries.
The collision happened on January 19th, at around 8:00 p.m. near Verano Avenue.
According to initial reports, Estrada was taking a dog for a walk when a 2019 Toyota Tundra struck them while turning southbound on Highway 12.
At this time, the reason behind the collision remains unknown. Officials state that the 24-year-old driver, Alvaro Avalos of Sonoma, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Authorities ruled out intoxication to be a factor in the incident and no arrests were made.
Unfortunately, the responding Sonoma Valley Fire units declared 36-year-old Julio Estrada of Santa Rosa dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the dog sustained minor injuries and was taken by Animal Control to be reunited with the owner.
