45-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident near River Street

SANTA CRUZ, CA (January 26, 2023) – Friday morning, Anthony Angel Chavez was killed in a pedestrian crash along Highway 1.

The collision happened around 6:15 a.m., near River Street in Santa Cruz. 

According to reports, a driver hit Chavez, who was attempting to cross Highway 1 against a red light in a crosswalk heading northbound toward Highway 9. The impact of the collision left the victim with fatal injuries.
