HESPERIA, CA (January 25, 2023) – Saturday night, Nicole Ruddy and her unborn child were killed in a DUI crash on Highway 396.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 11:40 p.m., just north of Poplar Street.

According to reports, the driver of a northbound black 2020 Ford Explorer crossed the center divider on the highway. As a result, the Ford collided head-on with an oncoming 2018 Toyota Corolla.

Responding personnel rushed the Toyota driver, 36-year-old Andrew Ruddy, and his pregnant wife, 33-year-old Nicole Ruddy, to regional trauma centers. Due to the extent of her condition, Nicole and her unborn child later succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile, Andrew Ruddy and the 36-year-old Ford driver, Eddie Escobedo of Hesperia, suffered significant injuries.
