Two Men Injured in Suspected DUI Accident near Morrison Avenue
SANTA MARIA, CA (January 25, 2023) – Tuesday, Emiliano Sanchez Najera and another man were arrested after a DUI crash on South Broadway.
Police responded to the scene around 9:10 p.m., near Morrison Avenue on December 6th.
According to police, two men were attempting to move a car off the roadway after their vehicles collided. Then, the driver of a third northbound vehicle identified as Najera, struck both men on Broadway.
Upon impact, one of the male pedestrians suffered serious head injuries. Meanwhile, the other suffered critical injuries to his lower extremities. Paramedics transported both victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
During preliminary duties, police learned that one of the drivers in the initial collision was intoxicated. In addition, 32-year-old Najera was also under the influence at the time. As a result, police took Najera into custody for DUI charges.
At this time, the crash is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Traffic Bureau at 805-928-3781, ext. 2291.
