Multiple Injured Including 9-Year-Old Child in Multi-Car Collision near Thompson Ranch Road
EL MIRAGE, AZ (January 24, 2023) – Sunday morning, Jose Sanchez was arrested following a multi-vehicle accident that injured at least nine.
Police responded to the scene near the intersection of Thompson Ranch Road and Grand Avenue around 10:15 a.m., on January 22nd.
According to police, at least four different vehicles were involved in the crash. In addition, one of the vehicles overturned.
Responding officers and paramedics treated nine people at the scene, seven of whom were transported to a nearby hospital. Medics say a 9-year-old boy and his mother were in critical condition.
Following preliminary duties, 19-year-old Sanchez was taken into custody at Maricopa County Jail for causing the initial collision. Eventually, Sanchez was charged with five counts of aggravated assault and eight counts of endangerment. Moreover, police suspect that impairment played a factor.
Meanwhile, all lanes on U.S. 60 were blocked during the investigation but they have since reopened.
