James Jacobs III Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision on Jackson Road

MODESTO, CA (January 23, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a t-bone crash on Bacon Road left Jackson Upton Dead, and James Jacobs III hospitalized.

The incident happened on January 17th, at around 4:13 p.m., at the intersection of Jackson Road and Bacon Road.

According to reports, Jacobs was driving a Honda CRV southbound on Jackson Road, with Upton as a passenger. He failed to stop at a stop sign on Bacon Road and drove into the path of a Dodge RAM, that did not have a stop sign. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to travel into an almond grove.

First responders to the crash pronounced 19-year-old Jackson Upton dead at the scene. Meanwhile, emergency crews airlifted 19-year-old James Jacobs III to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The 62-year-old driver of the RAM suffered minor injuries, however, he declined to be treated.
