36-Year-Old Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near Cook Street
PALM DESERT, CA (January 18, 2023) – Friday, Sara Ahmadie was killed and Alberto Lopez was arrested after a DUI crash on Country Club Drive.
The collision happened around 2:30 a.m., near the intersection of Country Club Drive and Cook Street.
According to reports, the driver of an eastbound Dodge Durango was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a red Hyundai Elantra.
Responding officers arrived and declared the single occupant of the Hyundai dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased victim as 36-year-old Sara Ahmadie, of Palm Desert.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the Dodge driver, 26-year-old Alberto Lopez, after he showed signs of impairment. Police booked Lopez in John Benoit Detention Center in Indio early Friday for a second-degree murder charge with a $1 million bail.
