Shane Lee Shahan Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run on First Street [Fresno, CA]
Two-Vehicle Collision near McKinley Avenue Left One Dead and Another Injured
FRESNO, CA (January 16, 2023) – Wednesday morning, police arrested Shane Lee Shahan following a deadly hit-and-run on First Street.
The fatal incident happened around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of First Street and McKinley Avenue.
According to reports, a westbound black pickup truck on McKinley ran past a red light and struck a gold car going north on First Street. As a result of the collision, the two men in the gold car sustained serious injuries.
Following the collision, the pickup driver fled the scene on foot, without rendering aid to the victims.
First responders arrived shortly after and transported the two gold car occupants to Community Regional Medical Center. At the hospital, the driver of the gold car succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, medics treated his passenger for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities later arrested the 33-year-old pickup driver, Shane Lee Shahan. They found him when he got stuck on a fence after crossing Highway 41. He is charged with felony hit-and-run and felony vehicular manslaughter.
