No-Contact Crash near State Route 62 Left 32-Year-Old Dead, 4 Injured

BANNING, CA (January 13, 2023) – Sunday night, a rollover crash on Interstate 10 claimed the life of Everardo Calvillo Jr.

The incident happened on Christmas day, at around 9:45 p.m., just west of State Route 62. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, an eastbound tractor-trailer made an unsafe lane change on Interstate 10. This caused a Toyota Camry behind the big-rig to swerve out of the way, lose control, travel off the south end of the road before overturning.

The impact of the collision ejected the driver, a 1-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl from the Toyota. The driver, identified to be 32-year-old Everardo Calvillo Jr. of Twentynine Palms, died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl and the 1-year-old sustained minor injuries and the 14-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. One passenger inside the Camry, a 35-year-old woman, also sustained minor injuries.

Following preliminary duties, police also said the big-rig driver did not stop and render aid to the victims.
