Pedestrian Crash on Alameda Street Left Woman Dead, Man Injured
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 12, 2023) – Sunday night, police responded to a pedestrian crash on Potrero Avenue that killed Bess Chui and injured her friend.
The incident happened on January 1st, at around 8:15 p.m., at the intersection of Potrero Avenue and Alameda Street.
According to reports, Chui was leaving a New Year’s Day party at the San Francisco nightclub Great Northern when a blue Honda Civic struck her and a man. Witnesses state that the involved driver of the vehicle got out and stayed in the area for a few minutes before fleeing the scene. Police have not yet arrested the suspect.
At this time, it is unclear whether Chui died at the scene or in a hospital. However, it is known that the male victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
Following the crash, Great Northern released a statement regarding the tragedy.
