One Killed, Several Hurt Following Two-Vehicle Accident near Northfront Road
LIVERMORE, CA (December 8, 2022) – Thursday, at least one person died and three were injured after a head-on collision at Altamont Pass.
The accident occurred around 12:50 p.m. near Northfront road about three-quarters of a mile east of Greenville Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision involved a blue Honda Civic sedan and a silver Toyota Prius.
Furthermore, as per reports, the Honda was driving eastbound on Altamont Pass at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 mph.
Consequently, it encountered slower-moving traffic and crossed the solid double yellow lines in an attempt to pass, colliding head-on with the Toyota driving westbound at around the same speed.
Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced an unidentified passenger in the Honda dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics rushed the drivers of the Honda and Toyota, as well as a 16-year-old passenger, to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor to major injuries.
At this point, police have not confirmed their identities or their conditions. However, an investigation is currently underway.
