Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Gerard Avenue

Winton, CA (November 28th, 2022) – Friday evening, Darla Suzanne Peters was involved in a pedestrian accident that killed Gary Lay

The incident happened around 7:12 p.m., near the intersection of Winton Way and Gerard Avenue on November 18th. 

According to reports, Lay was crossing the street at the intersection when the driver of a 2020 Toyota Prius struck him. The impact of the collision left Lay with serious injuries. 

When first responders arrived, they transported Lay to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, Lay later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Following preliminary duties, officials identified the driver of the Prius as 73-year-old Darla Suzanne Peters, of Atwater.
