CERES, CA (November 21, 2022) – Saturday, Anthony Rodriguez was hurt and Jonathan Sanchez was arrested after a hit-and-run on Service Road.
The incident happened around 7:17 p.m., near Pioneer Road on November 12th.
According to police, Sanchez failed to yield at a stop sign while driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup-truck eastbound on Service Road. There, he crashed into the driver’s side of the 2014 Nissan sedan occupied by Rodriguez.
The collision ejected 26-year-old Rodriguez, of Modesto from his vehicle onto the road. Consequently, Rodriguez suffered serious wounds and was transported to Memorial Medical Center’s trauma center by Medi-flight.
In addition, Sanchez exited his vehicle upon impact and immediately fled the scene on foot.
Following preliminary duties, police later caught Sanchez when he appeared at Ceres Police Department to report that his SUV was stolen. He was later identified as the suspect in the hit-and-run.
Authorities later booked 19-year-old Sanchez, of Hickman into Stanislaus County Public Safety Center with charges of felony hit-and-run. Officers say alcohol or drugs do not seem to be a factor in the crash.
