Two Children Killed in DUI Crash near Blosser Road

SANTA MARIA, CA (November 15, 2022) – Police arrested Hector Romero Escobar after a fatal DUI crash on Alvin Avenue Sunday night. 

The collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. on November 6th at the intersection of Alvin Avenue and Blosser Road.

According to reports, a driver suspected of DUI collided into another vehicle that carried a family of 5. The impact of the crash ejected three children from their vehicle. 

Responding medics then rushed the children, all under the age of 10, to Marian Regional Medical Center where two of the three children succumbed from their injuries.

Meanwhile, medics took the children’s parents who sustained major injuries to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. 

Police eventually arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Hector Romero Escobar and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of non-negligent manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of alcohol.

At this time, officials have not released further information about the names and conditions of the remaining injured family members, however, an active investigation is ongoing.
