Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Accident near East Jump Off Road

CHEWELAH, WA (November 14, 2022) – Tuesday morning, May Lindal and James Palumbo were hurt in a fatal crash on Highway 395.

Around 10:00 a.m., police responded to the scene near East Jump Off Road.

Per reports, a Poulsbo man was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado truck south on the highway when he lost control on a curve and crossed the center line. As a result, the Chevy struck a 2020 Nissan in the northbound lane.

Upon impact, the Poulsbo man and his female passenger, 46-year-old Lindal, were ejected from the truck onto the road. Investigators say they were not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the male driver of the Chevy dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported Lindal to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Crews also took the Nissan driver, 63-year-old Palumbo, of Rathdrum, Idaho to the same hospital.

Following preliminary duties, officers say speed contributed to the fatal collision. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
