33-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash near Michelson Drive

IRVINE, CA (November 8, 2022) – Thursday evening, a hit-and-run crash on Von Karman Avenue claimed the life of Saman Vakili Mafakhery. 

The incident happened around 9:05 p.m., near Michelson Drive close to San Diego Freeway. 

According to the investigators, Mafakhery was walking in the area when he was struck by a southbound vehicle on Von Karman Avenue. The impact of the crash left the pedestrian with severe wounds.

Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene of the incident, without rendering aid to the injured victim.

Orange County Fire Authority units responded to the collision shortly after and declared 33-year-old Saman Vakili Mafakhery dead at the scene. 

At this time, authorities are looking for a silver Acura TL with possible right front portion damage.
