30-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck near Osborn Road

PHOENIX, AZ (October 11, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, Agwani Samad was killed in a pedestrian crash on 16th Street.

Police responded to the scene just before 3:00 a.m., near Osborn Road on October 9th.

Investigators say the driver of a white SUV struck Samad in the area for reasons unknown.

First responders arrived and located a severely damaged SUV with the driver inside. In addition, 30-year-old Samad was laying in the roadway.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Samad dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the SUV driver to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Following preliminary duties, officers believe that impairment played a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
