Suspected DUI Crash near Bass Avenue Left One Fatality, Suspect Arrested
FRESNO, CA (October 6, 2022) – Early Monday morning, a DUI Crash on Highway 33 claimed the life of Benedo Alfaro Vasquez.
The fatal collision occurred at 3 a.m. along State Route 33 in Fresno County, north of Bass Avenue.
According to the report, a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Equinox drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2009 Toyota Corolla.
Unfortunately, the Corolla driver, 22-year-old Vasquez of Mendota, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, officers determined that the Chevrolet driver, 27-year-old Gilbert S. Castro, showed signs of intoxication. The CHP arrested Castro for suspicion of DUI.
