Police Officer Hurt in Motorcycle Collision in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, CA (September 28, 2022) – Early Monday morning, officer Nicholas Merced was injured in a motorcycle crash on Camp Pendleton.

The collision happened on September 19th, about five miles inside of Camp Pendleton.

Per reports, Merced was riding a motorcycle in the area. For reasons unknown, the driver of a vehicle failed to see the motorcyclist, and t-boned him. The impact of the collision left the officer with serious injuries.

Responding officials airlifted 39-year-old Merced to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he remains in critical condition.
