Eastwood Power Station Tunnel Explosion Left Eight Workers Injured

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (September 27, 2022) – Thursday, at least eight Southern California Edison employees were injured in a work accident.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m at the Eastwood Power Station Tunnel.

According to Cal Fire, an explosion happened in an underground vault in the Sierra Marina parking lot. Reports state that a circuit breaker blew in-ground and exposed several workers to sulfur hexafluoride. All eight employees sustained minor injuries.

Medics came and evaluated the workers onsite. All eight workers were treated for their injuries.

At this time, Fresno County officials are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the Shaver Lake work accident.
