Cyclist Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run Collision near East Bluff Drive
NEWPORT BEACH, CA (September 13, 2022) – Sunday morning, Adriana Bernal was arrested after a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Jamboree Road.
The incident happened around 8:30 a.m., in the 3000 block of Jamboree Road near East Bluff Drive. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after, of September 11th.
Following preliminary investigations, officers say Bernal struck a cyclist in the area and fled the scene. According to police, the vehicle was described as a white sedan with a cracked windshield, last seen heading southbound.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the severely injured man dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his name or place of residency.
Shortly after, officers located and arrested 36-year-old Adriana Bernal in a nearby Eastbluff neighborhood. Crews say she was under the influence of drugs at the time. As a result, police arrested her on hit-and-run and murder charges.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
