40-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on Queen Street
LAS VEGAS, NV (September 12, 2022) – Friday, Marcela Hernandez was killed and Zahrai Mendez-Amador was arrested after a hit-and-run crash.
The incident happened around 10:54 p.m., near the intersection of East Cheyenne Avenue and Queen Street.
According to reports, Mendez-Amador was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox when she struck Hernandez as she was walking outside of a marked crosswalk.
Upon impact, Mendez-Amador fled the scene without contacting authorities.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 40-year-old Hernandez dead at the scene. In addition, police later found and took 31-year-old Mendez-Amador into the Clark County Detention Center.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
