51-Year-Old Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Collision near Mile Marker 106

LOVELOCK, NV (August 31, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, James Compau was pronounced dead after a semi-truck crash on Interstate 80.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m., near mile marker 106 on August 2nd.

According to reports, Compau was driving a 2005 Peterbilt west on the highway when he struck the concrete barrier. Upon impact, the big-rig veered off the elevated roadway before landing on the ground below.

Upon impact, the trailer detached from the cab of the truck and bursted into flames. Medics arrived and pronounced 51-year-old Compau dead at the scene.

Authorities closed down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
