1 Killed, 1 Injured in Motorcycle Collision near Highway 101

HUMBOLDT, CA (August 25, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, Jay Lewis died after a motorcycle accident on King Salmon Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on King Salmon Avenue near the power plant.

Investigators said a 2006 BMW sedan attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on an oncoming 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the 49-year-old motorcycle rider, identified as Jay Lewis of Eureka died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the BMW driver, identified as 21-year-old Dillon Thornton-Weaver sustained minor injuries.
