Man Killed in Car Accident on State Route 99 [Redding, CA]
Male Victim Fatally Struck in Auto Collision near Hutchinson Road
REDDING, CA (August 24, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, one man was pronounced dead after a car accident on State Route 99.
The incident occurred at around 5:20 a.m., the on northbound lanes of State Route 99 near Hutchinson Road in the Yuba-Sutter area.
For reasons unknown, the driver of a white Ford Fusion veered off the roadway and crashed into a ditch east of the highway. The driver then got out of the vehicle and tried to flag down other drivers along the side of the road.
There, the driver of a southbound silver Honda Civic struck the man. The male victim landed in the northbound lanes where he was struck again by a grey Honda Civic. Emergency crews arrived and pronounced the 31-year-old driver of the Ford Fusion dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, both drivers of the involved vehicles pulled over and cooperated with the investigators. Following preliminary duties, Redding Officials believed that intoxication played a role in the State Route 99 car accident.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
