4 Dead, David McDaniels Injured in Head-On Collision near Fairview Road
COLUSA COUNTY, CA (August 24, 2022) – Monday, Celeste Gonzales, Timothy McDaniels, Quincy Lovelace, and Christopher Martinez died in a crash.
The incident occurred around 12:48 a.m., on Interstate 5 just south of Fairview Road near the Maxwell rest area.
For reasons unknown, 24-year-old Gonzalez was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima north in the southbound lanes.
As a result, she collided head-on with a southbound 2022 Nissan Altima. Medical personnel arrived and transported Gonzalez to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
In addition, crews pronounced 57-year-old Timothy McDaniels, 28-year-old Lovelace, and 34-year-old Martinez who were passengers inside the 2022 Nissan, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a surviving passenger, 52-year-old David McDaniels, of Suisun City was taken to Enloe Medical Center for major injuries.
At this time, officers continue to investigate the wrong-way crash on Interstate 5.
