1 Killed, 1 Injured Auto Collision on Highway 87 [San Jose, CA]

Fatal Multi-Car Accident near Curtner Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (August 24, 2022) – Friday evening, one victim was killed and another was injured in an auto collision on Highway 87.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Curtner Avenue. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after, on August 5th.

According to reports, an Acura was speeding along the highway when it collided with the edge of the guardrail for unknown reasons. The initial collision caused the vehicle to overturn and re-enter the northbound lanes, where it was hit by several vehicles.

Responding officers found an 18-year-old passenger deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, medics transported the rear-seat passenger to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities have not yet received any update on the victim’s current condition or identity.

Moreover, police closed the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, officials did not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident. However, an active investigation is currently underway.
