Several Injured after Border Patrol Pursuit near State Route 905 [San Diego, CA]

Multiple Hurt in High-Speed Pursuit Accident near Picador Boulevard

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 15, 2022) – Thursday evening, several people sustained injuries in a border patrol pursuit near State Route 905.

Investigators say the incident involved a stolen white truck that was spotted on State Route 94, around 7:40 p.m. Police attempted to pull over the vehicle, however the driver failed to do so and the pursuit began.

The female driver of the speeding vehicle switched multiple freeways before heading south on Interstate 805, then westbound on SR-54 before exiting the freeway at Highland Avenue. There, the suspect driver intentionally slammed into multiple police vehicles.

After striking the patrol cars, the suspect then got back onto the freeway. The pursuit eventually came to an end when the driver rear-ended a blue Tesla. The impact of the crash ejected the suspect driver from the truck onto the road. An SDPD officer then slammed on the breaks to avoid striking the woman, causing two other SDPD vehicles to crash into the back of the first.

Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle rolled off the freeway, before landing in a nearby ditch.

Paramedics transported the injured victims to a nearby hospital. One officer complained of pain and was provided treatment. An active investigation into the pursuit near State Route 905 is still underway.
