One Dead, One Injured after Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10 [Tucson, AZ]
Auto-Pedestrian Collision near Picacho Peak Killed One, Injured Another
TUCSON, AZ (August 15, 2022) – Wednesday, one individual died while another sustained injuries after a pedestrian accident on Interstate 10.
The accident happened 11:00 p.m. near Picacho Peak, along Interstate 10, on August 4th.
According to reports, officials attempted to pull over a vehicle when six to seven people got out and ran across the eastbound lanes of I-10.
As a result, an 18-wheeler struck two of the individuals. Responding officers arrived and declared one person dead at the scene, while the other was hospitalized for further treatment.
Pending notification of next of kin, authorities withheld both the names of the deceased and injured individuals at this time.
Meanwhile, the truck driver fled the scene but was eventually apprehended around two miles down the road.
At this time, officials suspect alcohol or drugs as a possible factor. An active investigation is currently underway.
