Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Fatal Accident near Road 180
VISALIA, CA (August 11, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old victim was fatally struck in a deadly pedestrian crash on Highway 198.
The incident happened around 4:00 a.m., near Road 180. According to reports, a 51-year-old woman was driving on the Highway when she fatally struck an 18-year-old man that was standing in the fast lane.
The driver, who sustained minor injuries, pulled over a short distance away from the incident.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after and pronounced the 18-year-old man dead at the scene. At this time, his identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old female driver was treated for injuries and is cooperating with investigators. Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
At this time, Visalia officials are currently working to determine the events surrounding the fatal crash on Highway 198.
