Off-Duty Police Officer Dead after Motorcycle Accident on Santa Rosa Road
PERRIS, CA (August 4, 2022) – Monday evening, a motorcycle crash on Pico Avenue claimed the life of Sergeant Matt Lewis.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m., near Pico Avenue and Santa Rosa Road, east of Perris. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
Investigators say the collision involved motorcycle and a pickup-truck. However, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced 45-year-old Lewis dead at the scene.
At this time, the Pico Avenue motorcycle crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Moreover, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
