Male Victim Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Friars Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 3, 2022) – Early Friday morning, a man was pronounced dead after a pedestrian accident on Interstate 15.
Police responded to the scene around 1:10 a.m., near Friars Road on July 29th.
The collision involved a Chevrolet box truck and a Toyota sedan. Per reports, the 27-year-old male driver of the Toyota veered off the road.
As a result, the Toyota struck a stopped Chevy on the side of the road, pushing the vehicle into a 25-year-old man. At the time, the male pedestrian was standing outside the vehicle, fixing a flat tire.
Upon impact, the Toyota driver was trapped inside his vehicle causing serious injuries. Moreover, medical personnel arrived and pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported the 25-year-old man to a local hospital with minor injuries. At this time, the identities of those involved in the crash have not been made public.
Crews closed several lanes on Interstate 15 during clearing operations before authorities reopened the area hours later. Following preliminary duties, officers did not confirm whether drugs or alcohol played a factor.
