67-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Crash near Lakewood Boulevard [Long Beach, CA]
Male Victim Dead after Auto Collision on 405 Freeway
LONG BEACH, CA (July 22, 2022) – Saturday morning, a car crash along Lakewood Boulevard took the life of an older man.
The incident occurred on July 9th, around 9:00 a.m. on the 405 Freeway near Lakewood Boulevard.
According to reports, the 67-year-old man, was driving a 2007 Kia Spectra down the highway at a high rate of speed. For reasons currently unknown, the Kia rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Corolla, veered into a center median, and came to a stop when it crashed into a highway support pillar.
Bystanders attempted to render aid to the Kia driver. Shortly after, Long Beach firefighters arrived at the scene and took over the life-saving attempts. However, they were unsuccessful and the man succumbed to his injuries.
As of this writing, the identity of the victim has not been released. Although, more details will be provided as they become available to the public.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old man from Bellflower driving the Toyota did not realize that he had been rear-ended and drove away. However, he eventually returned to the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Long Beach Officials continue to investigate the fatal Lakewood Boulevard car crash.
