Vehicle Accident near Ajo Way Left Two Fatalities
TUCSON, AZ (July 20, 2022) – Early Sunday, a crash near Interstate 19 claimed the lives of Ilsi Nayeli Leon and Yahaira Portela.
The crash happened on July 17th in Ajo Way, when a Porsche SUV driving a wrong-way from Interstate 10 to Interstate 19 struck another vehicle.
Furthermore, officers arrived at the scene and pronounced Leon and Portela deceased. The driver of the SUV also suffered injuries.
However, the cause of the accident as well as the factors surrounding it are currently unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe was created for both Leon and Portela.
Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but have since reopened.
Further investigations are still underway at this time.
