One Killed in Bicycle Accident near Highway 198 [Visalia, CA]
Bicyclist Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Ben Maddox Way
VISALIA, CA (July 19, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, a bicycle accident on Highway 198 claimed the life of one person.
The incident happened after 5:00 a.m., near Ben Maddox Way. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
Officials state that a bicyclist was traveling along Highway 198 when for reasons currently unknown, they were struck from behind by a Kia Optima.
Due to the extent of his condition, first responders were unable to revive the bicyclist and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Meanwhile, the Kia driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
