1 Killed in Fiery Street Race Collision on Sierra Avenue [Jurupa Valley, CA]

Suspected Street Racing Ends in Fatal Crash on Sierra Avenue

JURUPA VALLEY, CA (July 18, 2022) – Saturday night, one person was killed and another was hurt in a street race collision on Sierra Avenue.

The incident took place in the 7100 block of Sierra Avenue around 10:21 p.m.

According to reports, a 2001 Lexus and a 2019 Lexus were racing on the street. The 2001 Lexus then lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, crashing head-on with a Chevy Silverado.

Upon impact, both vehicles bursted into flames. As a result, the 2001 Lexus driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene. In addition, medics transported the second driver to a hospital with burns and several injuries.

Officers said the 19-year-old driver of the 2019 Lexus stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary investigations, officers eventually arrested the suspect on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

Authorities are yet to release the name of the deceased victim at this time. Furthermore, the crash temporarily closed the area while crews cleared the wreckage.
