Pedestrian Dies in Fatal Accident near Monterey Avenue

BARSTOW, CA (July 15, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, a DUI crash on Armory Road claimed the life of 61-year-old Daryl Curtis Oliver.

According to the Barstow Police Department, the incident occurred on July 9th, around 1:25 a.m., near Monterey Avenue.

Investigators reported that Oliver was walking along the road when a passing vehicle struck him, leaving him with major injuries. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after and administered first aid. However, despite life-saving efforts, Oliver’s wounds were too severe and officials pronounced him dead at 1:32 a.m.

Afterward, Barstow Officials managed to locate and arrest the suspect, 52-year-old Reginald Vance Ward. He is being charged with a DUI hit-and-run resulting in death.
