73-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Fatal Collision on Garfield Avenue
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (July 11, 2022) – Tuesday morning, 73-year-old Dac Them Kieu was killed in a bicycle crash on Brookhurst Street.
The accident happened on the morning of July 5th, around 7:00 a.m. Police responded at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Brookhurst Street.
According reports, the driver of a silver Ford F-350 made a left turn from eastbound Garfield Avenue onto northbound Brookhurst Street. There, the Ford struck a bicyclist who was riding along the road.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Kieu to a local hospital in critical condition. However, he later succumbed to his injuries due to the extent of his condition.
Meanwhile, the Ford driver was described as a 65-year-old man from Huntington Beach. He remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigations.
Crews closed the northbound lanes on Brookhurst Street during cleanup and preliminary duties. Following investigations, police suspect that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision.
