Traffic Accident on West Road Exit Left One Dead, One Seriously Injured

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA (June 30, 2022) – A head-on collision on Highway 101 left a man killed and a woman with serious injuries, police said.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 6:26 p.m. in the Redwood Valley area north of Ukiah, just south of the West Road exit.

Furthermore, investigators said that a 36-year-old man from Burbank went over the highway’s center median, before crashing into northbound Toyota Prius.

Consequently, the Toyota collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Eventually, first responders arrived and transported the woman driving the Jeep to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for major injuries.

Meanwhile, authorities declared the Prius driver dead at the scene. Although their identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

At this time, Mendocino County officials are working to identify the reasons behind the Highway 101 head-on crash.
