Petaluma DUI Driver Strikes Pedestrian, Punches a Witness and Kicks Police Officer
PETALUMA, CA (June 14, 2022) – Authorities arrested 22-year-old Evan Weise after a DUI crash on Kentucky Street Saturday night.
According to police, the collision happened just after 11:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Kentucky Street.
Investigators said Weise from Cotati was heading north in a gray BMW and struck a pedestrian at a high-rate of speed.
Afterwards, Weise continued onward and hit a vehicle at the intersection of Kentucky and Washington streets where his BMW veered off the road.
Ultimately, it crashed into a pole and then a tree. The other vehicle which was hit swerved off and crashed into two other vehicles on Washington.
Witnesses attempted to offer assistance to Weise, however, Wiese punched one of the people trying to render aid to him. Eventually, officers arrived and Weise continued being uncooperative.
Authorities reported Weise kicking one of the officers.
Medical responders transported the pedestrian to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
In the end, Petaluma officials booked Evan Weise to Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of DUI causing injury, hit and run with battery and assaulting a police officer.
