One Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101

JACOBY CREEK, CA (June 9, 2022) – On Sunday, authorities identified Kayla Guest as the driver involved in a fatal crash on Bayside Cutoff.

The incident happened at 3:04 a.m. on northbound US-101, north of Bayside Cutoff, per Jacoby Creek Officials.

Furthermore, according to reports, the pedestrian was hit by a 2003 Mercury Mariner for unknown reasons. Emergency crews arrived in the area and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Police have not confirmed the victim’s identity or the events leading up to the accident at this time.

Meanwhile the driver, identified as Kayla Guest of McKinleyville, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Officers believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the collision.
