3 Women Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near 405 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 27, 2022) – Late Saturday night, Yvonne Joby, Yasmeen Jobeh, and Jennifer Dagher died in a crash on Highway 118.
The accident took place on eastbound Highway 118, near the entrance to 405 Freeway.
Officials said the driver of the Mercedes-Benz SL550 veered to the right over the marked triangular section near the transition to 405 Freeway.
There, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 convertible hit a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 sedan that was stopped, with the three women inside. Consequently, one of the vehicles bursted into flames.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the driver of the Mercedes sedan and her two passengers died at the scene.
Officers identified the deceased victims as 18-year-old Yvonne Joby of Ventura; 20-year-old Jennifer Dagher of Ventura; and 23-year-old Yasmeen Jobeh of Oxnard.
Meanwhile, the man driving the other car, identified as Karen Gharibyan suffered major injuries. Medics transported him to Providence Holy Cross Hospital for further treatment.
Police also arrested the driver of the Mercedes-Benz SL550 on suspicion of murder. Investigators believed drugs or alcohol played a role in deadly collision.
