One Driver Hospitalized after Semi-Truck Crash near Broome Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 25, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, one unidentified driver sustained injuries in a big rig collision on Highway 58.
The California Highway Patrol officers responded around 12:30 p.m. on eastbound Highway 58, east of Broome Road.
As per reports, two big rig trailers collided on the freeway. One of the trucks was transporting wine, while the other one was loaded with broccoli. Although the events leading to the crash are unknown at this time.
Responding emergency crews then provided medical aid and hospitalized the injured driver who was suffering from moderate injuries.
Additionally, a small brush fire broke out, possibly as a result of the collision between the two big rigs. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The surrounding area was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup.
At this time, officers have not released further information, however, an active investigation is underway.
