Live Oak Canyon Road Crash Victim Identified

MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 19, 2022) A crash in San Timoteo Canyon Road claimed the life of 47-year-old Daniel Reyes Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police, the crash happened shortly before 2 p.m., just east of Live Oak Canyon Road.

CHP Officer Jason Montez claimed Reyes went eastbound on San Timoteo while driving a 2000 Honda Accord.

Afterwards, he approached a slower-moving 2021 GMC Sierra just ahead of him and attempted to pass the pickup, crossing the double yellow lines.

However, an approaching 2022 Toyota Camry from the opposite direction prompted Reyes to swerve back into the eastbound lane, where his Honda struck the pickup.

As a result, the Honda veered back into the path of the Toyota colliding with it head-on. Eventually, Cal Fire arrived at the scene and pronounced 47-year-old Reyes dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Honda driver from Calimesa sustained minor injuries. He’s now at the Riverside University Medical Center for treatment.

The 23-year-old male pickup driver from Newport Beach did not receive any injuries.

Moreno Valley Officials closed both sides of San Timoteo Canyon as they investigated the crash.

No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Daniel Reyes.
