Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash on Avenue J-8

LANCASTER, CA (May 3, 2022) – Late Sunday afternoon, Johnny Carr was fatally struck in a motorcycle collision on Division Street.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m., near the intersection of Division Street and Avenue J-8.

According to reports, the female driver of a Nissan Sentra was heading south on Division Street when she attempted to turn onto Avenue J-8. There, she went directly into the path of the motorcycle and struck 50-year-old Carr.

The impact ejected the motorcyclist from the Harley-Davidson onto the road.  Medics arrived and rushed the rider to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Following preliminary investigations, officers did not confirm whether or not drugs or alcohol played a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.

When driving, it is important to keep an eye out for motorcyclists. Also, allow more following distance when behind a motorcycle. If you are riding a motorcycle, use hand and turn signals when you change lanes or turn. To increase visibility, wear brightly colored clothes and reflective tape.
