2 Arrested, 1 Dead after Fatal Collision near Almond Avenue
SANGER, CA (April 7, 2022) – Tuesday evening, 65-year-old Minerva Camacho was killed in a pedestrian accident near Greenwood Avenue.
The crash happened around 6:20 p.m., near the intersection of Greenwood and Almond Avenue.
Per reports, officers spotted an SUV with three male occupants driving erratically. Before police were able to stop the vehicle, one of the passengers jumped out and threw something into a nearby yard before getting back in the vehicle.
Officers continued to pursue the SUV as it sped up. Shortly after, the driver of the suspect vehicle lost control and jumped a curb. There, the driver traveled directly into the path of Camacho and a young child.
Camacho managed to push the child out of the way before the vehicle struck and pinned her underneath the SUV, as it crashed into the house.
Eventually, first responders arrived and transported Camacho to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The child remained unharmed.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Adrian Valencia, of Sanger and 31-year-old Salmon Zaragoza, of Santa Maria for gross vehicular manslaughter and other related charges.
At this time, Sanger Officials continue to investigate the fatal incident.
