Justin Rodrigues Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 101 [Cuesta Grade, CA]
18-Year-Old Dies in Vehicle Crash on Highway 101
CUESTA GRADE, CA (April 7, 2022) – Sunday morning, during a traffic collision on Highway 101, Justin Rodrigues was killed, police said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened when a 2003 Nissan 350Z lost control while driving south on Highway 101 while traveling down the Cuesta Grade.
Afterward, 18-year-old Justin Rodrigues crossed into the northbound lane and was struck by a 2019 Ford Fusion driven by 54-year-old Sandra Gastelum from Santa Maria.
Gastelum sustained significant injuries from the collision.
Eventually, Rodrigues was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger, 19-year-old Kenneth Rocha received significant injuries.
At this time, CHP Officer Miguel Alvarez stated that the crash remains under active investigation.
