DUI Driver Arrested after DUI Crash on Clovis Avenue

FRESNO, CA (March 17, 2022) – Johnae Desarae Andrews was arrested following a DUI accident on Belmont Avenue, Friday evening.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m., on Belmont Avenue, just west of Clovis Avenue.

Authorities said the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban slammed into a stone and iron fence. The impact of the crash caused the four children inside to suffer major injuries.

Meanwhile, the children were not wearing seatbelts during the time of the crash. Additionally, crews did not released their ages.

Police later found out that the driver showed signs of alcohol intoxication. Eventually, authorities identified the driver, Johnae Desarae Andrews, and arrested her around 11:09 p.m.

Authorities charged her for suspicion of three felony charges: being an intoxicated driver causing injury or death to someone other than herself; having a blood alcohol content of.08 or higher; and causing cruelty, harm, or injury to a child, as per the Fresno County Jail log.

Andrews was imprisoned with bail set at $82,000. Meanwhile, the condition of the young victims remains unknown and Child Protective Services has been made aware.
