Martin Villegas Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision on South Pepper Avenue [San Bernardino, CA]
57-Year-Old Man Dead after 2-Car Crash on South Pepper Avenue
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (March 15, 2022) – Tuesday evening, Martin Villegas was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision on South Pepper Avenue.
According to police, the crash occurred around 10:05 p.m., on March 8. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
Per reports, the driver of a Dodge Challenger was heading north on South Pepper Avenue. At a high rate of speed, the Dodge driver then rear-ended another northbound Toyota Corolla.
The impact pushed the Toyota directly into a streetlight, sending its driver, 57-year-old Villegas, to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced Villegas dead at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Dodge driver fled the scene on foot, and is yet to be found. Authorities ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Dan Acosta at 909-384-5792.
